James McCartney – Strong As You

This is hilarious in so many ways. This guy loved Goldrush’s “Making Moves” but seems to have them confused with another Goldrush.

It’s that time of year again. The ever-popular Ghost of Pop Festival is returning for its eighth year. This concert features some of the finest pop rock acts Richmond has to offer and it’s always a great show. And it’s a benefit for HomeAgain, a local homeless shelter in the city.
This year includes a special reunion show by horn metal outfit Sau as well as Goldrush, Andrew Leahey & The Homestead, The Trillions, My Old Ways and Herro Sugar. DJ OUTSIDER will be spinning the wheels all night. Plus, it’s my birthday weekend and Prabir and Treesa from Goldrush have promised me a special birthday song.
It all takes place at Gallery5 on Saturday, Dec. 8. Listen and download tracks by the artists playing this year’s Ghost Of Pop below.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently, then you’d know that Goldrush has been quite the busy band lately. After a successful stop at South by Southwest earlier this year, they’ll be releasing a new album as a part of the Motion City Soundtrack and Drexel University’s “Making Moves” series on August 28. “Making Moves” is a series of 7″ releases by emerging artists, produced and curated by members of Motion City Soundtrack.
And to celebrate the release, Goldrush will be performing a free show at the Camel on Sunday, Sept. 2.
Goldrush – Settle Down

Gallery5 celebrates seven years of local music through a one night $5 fundraiser featuring live performances by the Green Hearts, Goldrush and Classic Monkey Shine. Plus, there will be an album cover photo booth, caricature artist, raffle with merch from local groups and special adult beverages. It’s all happening on Friday, June 29. Please support them so they can continue to provide a space for Richmond’s talented musicians.

Looks like there’s another free show this week at the Camel you’ll need to head to.
Goldrush, Charlottesville’s The Hill and Wood and Herschel Stratego will be at the Camel on Tuesday, May 29 (yes, the day before the big birthday party) to play a free show for you to enjoy.
The Hill and Wood take a lot of folk-pop integrate it into a nice mix of indie-pop fun. I saw these guys last time they were in town and it was a phenomenal show. Plus, Goldrush and Herschel will be on hand to give you lots of great music.
Plus, it’s free. And it’s a good pre-game event for the big party on Wednesday.

In the vein of the much-missed Silent Music Revival, Goldrush provides the soundtrack to the 1925 silent film classic “Battleship Potemkin” at a special show at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts on Friday, April 6. It’s been called of the greatest silent films ever and I’ve definitely interested to see it on the big screen. And Goldrush providing the soundtrack makes this even more of a must-see show.
Story: The setting is Russia, 1905. Enraged with the deplorable conditions on board the
armored cruiser Potemkin, the ship’s loyal crew effects the unthinkable: mutiny. Seizing
control, they raise the red flag of revolution becoming the rallying point for the populace.
This insurrection is met violently by the Czar’s ruthless troops on the steps of seaport
Odessa. Restoration by Kino International. 69 minutes.

Chances are, you’ve seen Goldrush (They have a new Facebook page. Like it!) rock out around town and have loved every moment. Now, the rest of the world will take notice. The band recently announced that they will be performing with hundreds of other up and coming bands at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin during March 13-18. I believe a roadtrip to Texas is in order.
Congrats go out to Prabir, Treesa, Matt and Gregg. You guys deserve it.
Goldrush – God
And “Tonight I’m Not Going Anywhere,” a new song I’m REALLY enjoying.

Great bands all night at Gallery5 including the Druthers, Kid Is Qual, Goldrush, the Trillions, Horsehead, Young Adult Fiction and My Old Ways. Saturday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. I will be celebrating my birthday at this event, so come say hi, buy me a drink and enjoy this great show.
