Eric Himan at Babe’s

February 28, 2013

Eric-Himan
Singer-songwriter Eric Himan
is returning to Richmond (minus his Freddie Mercury mustache he sported last night he was here, so disappointed) and has a whole bunch of new songs for his fans. He’s just finished up his new album “Formal,” which is seeing completion thanks to a successful PledgeMusic campaign. The new album promises a full backing band, a new horn section, back-up singers and songs that are different than Eric has recorded before. He’s also been starring in a great video cooking show called “Trial and Eric” where he learns to cook amazing looking dishes.

Himan will be performing at Babe’s of Carytown on Friday, March 1.

The Lovely Ladies of God-Des & She

August 23, 2011

Hip-hop duo God-Des & She have been at the forefront of my listening experiences lately due to their incredibly catchy song “Love Machine.” The video is below and features a 1950s drag race, greasers vs. preps and a lot of hilarity. And the rest of their music’s pretty good too. The ladies’ latest album “Three” is full of upbeat hip-hop goodness.

The duo will be hitting Babe’s of Carytown tonight in a show that will be full of energy and excitement.

God-Des & She – Respect My Fresh

Eric Himan’s “Supposed Unknown” Show in Richmond

July 21, 2011

Singer/songwriter Eric Himan has recently been touring across the country in support of his newest album “Supposed Unknown.” He’s stopping by Richmond for a performance at Babe’s of Carytown on Saturday, July 23. He’ll be playing with Richmonder Andy Moore, who will be playing her last show before moving to the West Coast.

I knew nothing about Eric Himan performing in town and nothing about Andy Moore’s departure until the good people at GayRVA informed of such news. Check out my interview with both Eric and Andy before they play their show this weekend – shameless plug, I know.

I had heard bits and pieces of Eric’s music for some time and have always wanted to check him out live. And Andy Moore is one of Richmond’s musical treasures and I’m bummed that she’ll be leaving. This should be an entertaining night of music from some talented individuals.
