AuxSend.tv to Premiere on PBS

February 1, 2013

bryanfeatureMy friend Doug Stanford has been producing a music video web series AuxSend.tv for a while now. Aux Send showcases the talent of rising independent artists and bands in the Virginia area. Some of the performance and interviews include Nelly Kate, Wes Swing, Bryan Elijah Smith, Nick Coward & The Last Battle and others.

Now, Doug is happy to announce that Aux Send will be premiering on WVPT, a Virginia-based PBS station, on March 23 at 10 p.m., airing before Austin City Limits. The initial PBS broadcast run consists of 13 one-hour episodes, including material from the Web show, as well as unreleased performances. Aux Send can be seen on WVPT in the Shenandoah Valley, Central and Northern Virginia, Eastern and Panhandle West Virginia, Western Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania and Washington DC areas. WVPT’s coverage does not extend down to Richmond, unfortunately, but they’re working towards getting the show to a national distribution level through NETA/PBS, so hopefully it will in the future.

In the meantime, you can still watch on AuxSend.tv or on its YouTube page. Check out a performance by Nelly Kate below.

Win A Personally Written EP from Aux Send

May 25, 2011

If you haven’t been checking out my friend’s video webcast Aux Send, you’ve been missing out on excellent performances from artists like Nelly Kate, Robin Smith, Jeremy Cowgill, Seal Skin, Rally Vincent and Gallows Bound. And they are some awesome performances.

Now, they’re putting together the first official Aux Send EP Contest where one viewer/listener will win a completely original EP composed just for them by Nelly Kate, Robin Smith, Jeremy Cowgill, Rally Vincent, Gallows Bound, and Doug+Mollie. This EP’s production theme is modern lo-fi, and all tracks will be recorded using only one mic from a laptop or iPhone (and then mastered by the producer).

Here’s how to enter:
1. Go to the podcast in iTunes and give the show a rating and review by June 3rd.
2. Email info@auxsend.tv and include the username you used to write the review, your name, and the best way to get in touch with you (email, phone number, etc.).
3. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of artists from the show and a winner will be selected by vote. We realize this is a sort of ambiguous guideline to help you craft your entry, but generally the show and it’s artists all appreciate genuine thoughts, humor, and of course hyperbolic flattery.
4. The winner will provide the producer with a handful of fun facts, interests, or desired topics about themselves/their loved ones/their favorite charity and the bands will have 30 days to produce their songs, which will be made into one physical disc for the winner and distributed for free online.

Go here for more information.

I would tell you to enter to win, but that EP is mine. Just saying.

This is Aux Send

March 2, 2011

Aux Send is a web video series created by my college friend Doug Stanford which features live studio performances with unique, interesting, diverse and unsigned/small label artists from across the nation.

The preview episode (below) features Richmond newcomer Nelly Kate and a handful of Harrisonburg and Winchester musicians. And the quality of the show is extremely well done. Aux Send is looking for more artists to promote so contact them if you’re interested.
