Bradford Cox, frontman for indie rockers Deerhunter has been performing in his solo side project Atlas Sound and will be hitting the National tonight (Dec. 15). I haven’t really paid that much attention to either act, but I like what I’m hearing from Cox’s solo stuff and will have to check out more.

Also tonight, Globehopper Coffee features plenty of bluegrass fun with Detroit’s Petal Shop. Their twangy, upbeat bluegrass songs can lift you up out of any foul mood.

And on Friday, Dec. 16 at the National, Hero Gets the Girl. There’s not much information on this guy (he’s looking for bandmates) other than the Reverbnation page, and that barely has anything, but the music is upbeat and pretty catchy. I hope to hear more from him in the future. He’ll be playing with other local acts including Juniper Green, Madd Hattters and Joshua Wake.
