Indie/alternative/experimental rock band Teepee will be performing at Strange Matter on Sept. 11 with Lorem Ipsum and Left & Right

Teepee, the creative outlet for songwriter Erix S. Laurent, is currently a 4-piece band from Miami, FL, known for intense, dissonant live shows and stylistic shapeshifting. Stitched in Miami’s blind spot as a musician whose artistic vision is fiercely uncompromising, Teepee began experimenting with drone-based melodies in 2008, drawing influence from minimalist lo-fi pioneers, electronic noise artists, and 80s innovators such as Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, and Death in June. The band has released EPs through HoZac Records, Jerkwave Tapes, Night People, Weird Hug Records, and Florida’s Dying, and is preparing an upcoming release, the sonically dense “Distant Love or: Time Never Meant Anything, And Never Will,” due November 6 via the Revera Corporation. Teepee was selected as Miami New Times Best Solo Musician of 2010, one of CBS Local’s Best Musicians in 2011, and by CMJ for the Sonicbids Spotlight in June 2012.
