Back from the Dead with Upcoming Shows
August 3, 2012Sorry it’s been so long since my last update (a whole two weeks). Between packing up and moving out of my house and frantically looking for a new place to live, getting stuff into storage, boarding the cats, living like a nomad for a week and finally moving everything into a new apartment, my life has been pretty chaotic and unfortunately you music-wanting readers were left to suffer.
Hopefully I can make it up to you with a few shows you might want to check out tonight.
First up is chamber rock band England in 1819, who will be performing with Marionette and Ocean vs. Daughter at On the Rox in Shockoe Bottom. Comprised of a father and two sons, England in 1819 are defined by their haunting melodies and evocative surges of sound, a unique combination of Southern edge and English introspection.
Also tonight, hard rock band 12 Stones (you may remember lead singer Paul McCoy lending his vocals to Evanescene’s debut single “Bring Me To Life”) will be performing at Cullen’s Cove in Mechanicsville along with local bands Blameshift, Digital Summer, Throwing Gravity, Faultline, Aparallax and If It Takes Forever. May 2012 saw the release of the band’s fourth studio album, “Beneath The Scars,” which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Christian Rock chart.
One more for tonight are DJ collective BoomBox who are performing at the National. The duo develops an electronic blend of vintage rock and blues made to get people moving. BoomBox is in the midst of their summer tour and currently working on its third release, “Lost Ya,” which is being recorded using a blend of electronic programming and live instrumentation.
