If you haven’t yet checked out The Horn RVA, a VCU student-run website dedicated to covering local Richmond music culture, then you’re missing out on some great reads and insights from many different music lovers (I knew others were out there somewhere). Seriously, there are some great new music finds, interviews, videos and interesting op/eds on here. Take some time to check it out.

For its first formal release, “The Horn RVA Presents: Vol. 1,” the members of the Horn have compiled 17 local artists ranging from metal to folk to math rock, to showcase the versatility and depth of talent of the Richmond music scene.

The release show features six of the acts from the sampler performing, as well as free merchandise from many of the artists and other giveaways.

The lineup includes Night Idea, Young Adult Fiction, Solace Sovay, Close Talker and Dane Ferguson.

The Horn RVA’s Local Music Showcase takes place on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.
