Benefit the Beats – A Fundraiser for WDCE
February 23, 2012
WDCE 90.1FM, the radio station for the University of Richmond, needs a new transmitter. Problem is, radio transmitters costs money. I’m not sure how much exactly, but I’m guessing it doesn’t come cheap. So what better way to raise the money than a benefit concert featuring a bunch of great local bands?
On Saturday, Feb. 25, head over to The Pier at UR (it’s by the lake) and catch sets from Josh Urban, Navi, William Rousseau, Money Cannot Be Eaten, Quango Almo and Cardinal Compass. There’s a suggested donation of $3 (but you get a free button with the donation!) and all funds collected will go towards obtaining the new transmitter.

I would not waste my time helping this station. They refused to play my record back in 2001. When I politely asked for it back, they got surly with me, and told me to “f off”. Not very grown up people, and they came back years later and told me how much they enjoyed throwing my record in the trash bin. Hope they’re able to stay off the air waves.
Hey Meade,
I’m sorry to hear that you had such a lousy experience with the station. There’s new management there, and you probably caught a student DJ right in midterms who acted so unprofessionally. Feel free to send me your record, and I’ll do my best to get it on the air. I’ve just come on board as the new PR director to help bands get on shows, so I’d love to help you out and right that wrong.
Sincerely,
Josh
