The best record store ever Plan 9 Music, which was usually my sometimes second home, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The store has been a staple in Carytown since 1981 and always had the best new releases, a great atmosphere and incredible in-store concert. I saw Pete Yorn, De Novo Dahl, Greg Laswell, Alex Band and Against Me! all up close.

The store has been suffering in the past year or two, closing their basement and reducing their inventory. It’s been a long time coming, but it doesn’t hurt any less.

Plan 9 plans to restructure its finances and continue operating, so we’ll see what the future holds for this store.
