Samson Trinh Has A Lot to Teach in Shop Class
August 19, 2011
Last night, the people behind the i.e. creative movement held one of their series of shop classes focusing on creativity in Richmond. This class featured musician and composer Samson Trinh, who you may remember as the brains behind the Abbey Road Project featuring the Upper East Side Big Band.
Trinh discussed his musical influences, which included Harry Connick, Jr. and Lee Wiley, and how he went about arranging and composing music. After that, the shop class turned into elementary school music class when Trinh handed out maracas, tamborines and drumsticks and taught everyone how to play simple beats. A very interesting class, but sadly, the only one about music.
