Globehopper’s Mix CD Locker Exchange

July 28, 2011

If you only know one thing about me, it’s that I love a good mix CD. Apparently, the good people at Globehopper Coffee feel the same way.

The small Church Hill coffee shop has a brilliant yet simple music exchange system that to my knowledge, I haven’t seen anywhere else. In the back room, there is an old school gym locker – “Locker 729″ to be exact – that serves as a literal way of sharing music. I was first introduced to Locker 729 after reading a post by Coffee Culture RVA earlier this year and I was completely intrigued.

The concept is simple: burn a CD of music you like or music you made and drop it in the locker. You can also take someone else’s CD with you to experience the thrill of possible great new music.

So here’s the deal: I just made 3 special RVA Playlist mix CDs and put them in the locker. The discs are full of random tunes that have been shuffling through my iPod lately, but hopefully you will enjoy them. If you’re interested, head over to Globehopper, buy a drink (support the business!) and grab a mix out of the locker.

If you decide to pick one up, let me know which one you took and what you thought. I always love hearing feedback. But make sure to put another CD in when you take one. That way, the locker always has a CD in it.
