The Capstan Shafts is the musical project of American lo-fi artist Dean Wells. His songs feature a full-band sound with a fuzzy lo-fi sound similar to bands like Guided By Voices and The Mountain Goats.

Despite a huge output of recorded material (10 EPs and seven full-length albums to date), Wells doesn’t perform that often, but are on a tour around the country right now, stopping at Gallery 5 tonight. Also playing are Ghost Lotion, White Laces and Lubec.
